January 2008: The Waldzell Meeting Review (Calgary)

Dr. Gordon Hasick, Director of The Britannia Clinic, is pleased to announce that Ms. Gundula Schatz, the Founder of the Waldzell Meeting, will be in Calgary to share the vision and future of the Waldzell Meeting and to also reflect on this past September’s monumental event.

Every year since 2004, some of the most distinguished thinkers and visionaries from around the world meet for several days at a historic old abbey in Austria. Collectively they participate in a global dialogue for inspiration and wise action. The annual Waldzell Meetings take place at the 1000-year-old Melk Abbey that is rooted in a rich tradition of study and service. It is also where Umberto Eco got the inspiration for his novel, “In the Name of the Rose.

The group of speakers from the previous Waldzell Meetings contains seven Nobel laureates, including His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, along with numerous artists like Isabel Allende, Paulo Coelho and Christo and Jeanne-Claude, the Pritzker-Price recipients Frank Gehry and Tom Mayne and some of the foremost scientists of our time, like Robert Gallo, the discoverer of HIV, Sir Paul Nurse, President of the Rockefeller University, Ahmed El-Tayyib, Rector of Al-Azhar University Cairo and Peter Senge, author of “The Fifth Discipline”.

On Monday January 28 at 7:30 pm in the Glencoe Club Main Ballroom, Ms. Gundula Schatz from Vienna will be part of a public dialogue with Dr. Hasick. The evening will share some of the dialogue from the last Waldzell meeting and offer the Calgary community the opportunity to explore the Waldzell Dialogue Process and begin to consider the options we all have for creating a healthy future, personally and globally. Dr. Hasick has recently been appointed to the board of the prestigious Waldzell Meeting, “A Global Dialogue for Inspiration”. He will also share his experience of the September 2007 meeting at Melk, Austria. The complimentary program will be offered to the patients, clients and friends of The Britannia Clinic on Monday January 28, 2008 from 7:30-9:30 pm in the Glencoe Club Ballroom. Please RSVP to the clinic so that we can keep track of our numbers. Refreshments will be served and as always, space is limited.
